Durga Puja

Durga puja is a Hindu festival, in which prayers and sweets are offered to goddess Durga. It is generally celebrated from the sixth to tenth day of the Navratras. The festival signifies the defeat of evil buffalo demon, Mahishasura, by the goddess herself to save the mankind from his wrath and destruction. The festival is celebrated with greater enthusiasm in the states of West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Odisha and Nepal, as one of their main festivals. It is embarked with a five day long vacation to enjoy the festivities and fĂȘte. Mantras are chanted early in the morning and late night during the festival along with playing sindoor on the main day of the event.

Festival Of India ( Holi )


Festival of Colors.


Holi is the festival of colors celebrated in the spring every year signifying love, fun and frolic. People gather and celebrate the festival with each other by using colors and enjoying sweets. The commencement of the festival is by burning a Holi fire the night before the main festival called “Holika dehan”, which is followed by the color and water festival. Also, exotic drinks and sweets are prepared on the day by using Cannabis leaves or Bhang to add to the colors of the day. The festival usually is celebrated in the month of March based on the dates of the Hindu or lunar calendar. Overall Holi is a beautiful festival that brings the loved ones closer by adding colors, love and togetherness in life.

Diwali


Diwali or Deepawali is an extremely important ancient Hindu festival that is celebrated widely across the country. It is known for its pre-historic value that signifies the triumph of good over evil, when Lord Ram defeated Ravan and rescued Sita. Diwali is also popularly known as the festival of lights because of the lighting and cracker shows, and celebrated on the no-moon night of the autumn(in northern hemisphere) or spring (In southern hemisphere). People love to dress up in new traditional or ethnic clothes and prepare a wide array of sweets that are an essential part of the festival. Diyas are lighted and Laxmi Puja is done on the day of the festival.
