Diwali
Diwali or Deepawali is an extremely important ancient Hindu
festival that is celebrated widely across the country. It is known for its
pre-historic value that signifies the triumph of good over evil, when Lord Ram
defeated Ravan and rescued Sita. Diwali is also popularly known as the festival
of lights because of the lighting and cracker shows, and celebrated on the
no-moon night of the autumn(in northern hemisphere) or spring (In southern
hemisphere). People love to dress up in new traditional or ethnic clothes and
prepare a wide array of sweets that are an essential part of the festival.
Diyas are lighted and Laxmi Puja is done on the day of the festival.
